Host: Jim Svejda Bio

Although Jim Svejda is one of the most respected, critical voices in the classical music field, he also is one of the most entertaining and popular program hosts on public radio. He has been delighting Classical KUSC listeners since 1979 with his witty, meticulously crafted essays on diverse composers, conductors and artists -- and his commentary on a wide range of other subjects that attract his musical fancy.

He is the host and producer of the nationally syndicated radio series The Record Shelf, which is carried by some 200 public radio stations. Locally, it's broadcast Sunday morning from 11a.m - 12 noon and repeated Sunday evenings from 7 - 8 p.m. Weeknights his evening program, commencing with the third movement of Martinu's Piano Quartet #1, is heard on Classical KUSC from 7 p.m. to midnight. A noted film critic, his reviews are broadcast on the CBS Radio Network.
