Mark Berman: Bio

Michael Carlotta (NYC music producer, leader of NYC's Soul Sound Revue) says: "In New York City there are THOUSANDS of great musicians, but when it comes to hiring the single best keyboard player with the strongest R&B feel it's Mark Berman-bar none! Mark has an incredible talent and 'feel' when playing behind or accompanying singers. In an R&B rhythm section there is NO better keyboard player in New York than Mark. The keyboard book to my show can be quite intimidating to musicians, but Mark is always flawless; not only when playing the written parts, but adding his own creative ideas to make the music really leap off the page. If you want the best keyboard player on both coasts, for a deep groovin' soul, R&B, contemporary Gospel, or hard driving Nashville Rock&Pop feel, call Mark Berman"

Mark has performed with many amazing artists including some incredible legends such as: Aretha Franklin, Carole King, Gladys Knight, Hugh Jackman, Illinois Jacquette, Ben E King, Jackie McLean, Buster Poindexter, Blood,Sweat & Tears, Richie Havens, Helen Reddy, Jennifer Holliday and Phil Ramone, among many others. He can be heard playing piano on the theme to HBO's "Sex and the City"... and went on to write and produced music for the show.

On Broadway he has conducted Rent, Smokey Joe's Cafe and Blood Brothers, and played lead piano on The Boy From Oz, Hairspray, The Life, 42nd Street, Dreamgirls, Rent and Jesus Christ Superstar...among others. He's performed on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Rosie O'Donnell as well as at The Blue Note, Birdland, The Rainbow Room, The Super Club, Weill Hall etc...
