Carl Tanner: Bio
Tenor Carl Tanner has evolved into one of today's great singers, performing to packed houses around the world. Although Tanner is an acclaimed international opera tenor, his love of music started in an entirely different genre: Country music. As a child in Arlington, VA, Tanner fell in love with the Roy Clark and George Jones records that his parents played, and he has been a country music fan ever since. In a recent interview, Tanner explained "I was not born around opera. I heard country music growing up... When I told my father I was going off to study opera, he though I meant. "The Grand Ole Opry." But for Tanner, the similarities between country music and opera are obvious; both frequently deal with real life issues such as love and loss, life and death, trust and betrayal as
thier subject matter.
This world-class singer is now poised to dominate this holiday season with the release of his debut album: 'Hear the Angel Voices' (October 24th, TMG Records). Arranger/conductor Steven Mercurio and seven-time Grammy Award Winning engineer Richard King join Tanner in a selection of cherished holiday songs. Tanner comments: "I've sung "O Holy Night" and "The Lord's Prayer" in concert halls around the world and from the audience's reaction, I just knew I had to record these songs for posterity. Christmas is my favorite time of the year, nd the music of Christmas always lifts my spirits and touches my heart."
