Posted At : June 17, 2013 5:17 PM
Robin McKelle might have called this album The Real McKelle. "It's the record I've always dreamed of making. Not that there was anything stopping me in the past, it's simply that things panned out differently."
Soul Flower, Mckelle's new production, a contemporary blend of soul and rhythm 'n' blues has it's offical release tomorrow: Tuesday June 18 and radio has been picking up on the 'digital only' project with great enthusiasm. With 30 Total Stations/Shows, outlets include CBC Music in Canada, as well as local stations in Los Angeles, Atlanta, Seattle, Austin, Long Is. NY, El Paso, and in Robin's home town of Rochester NY. "I love that music so much that I couldn't see myself doing something ‘in the style of…". I grew up listening to Nina Simone and Gladys Knight. I sang their classics and what I enjoy most today is building my own repertoire in that same soulful vein."

ONCE
Once is the celebrated new Broadway show based on the Academy Award-winning film. The show includes all of the beloved songs written by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova for the critically acclaimed film. The score features the Oscar-winning hit "Falling Slowly," as well as two new songs, "Abandoned in Bandon" and the Czech folk song "Ej Pada Pada Rosicka." One of the most unique elements of this musical is that the 13-member cast of the show act, sing and play all of the instruments: there is no orchestra or separate band. A distinctive aspect to the cast album is that it was produced allowing these talented actors/musicians to record the music in the same style and environment as their stage show. This special recording process not only showcases the gorgeous new orchestrations by Martin Lowe, but also captures the live essence of this extraordinary ensemble.
