Interview with KUAF's Katy Henriksen

American pianist Simone Dinnerstein's breakout recording came when she released the entirety of J. S. Bach's "Goldberg Variations" on Telarc in 2007. Although she first discovered it at age 13 it's a work she returns to again and again. "I've always liked pieces of art that are introspective and still, but very emotional. I like it when the emotion is underneath the surface," she explains to Of Note's Katy Henriksen. "It's a piece of music that sounds extremely human and at the same time it sounds mystical and it has both elements of it, just in the aria alone."

Hear the entirety of Dinnerstein's in-studio conversation and performance inside the Firmin-Garner Performance Studio here at KUAF. Dinnerstein performs the entirety of the "Goldberg Variations" at Walton Arts Center tonight at 8 p.m.
