Pianist Lara Downes, a longtime regular at the Mondavi Center, will celebrate the upcoming release of her new album on the Sony Classical label with a concert at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, in Mondavi's Jackson Hall. The concert will feature music from Downes' new album "For Lenny," which will be released on Feb. 9. The album commemorates the 100th anniversary of the birth of American conductor and composer Leonard Bernstein (1918-1990) with new arrangements of several of Bernstein's songs, as well as world-premiere tributes to Bernstein by leading American composers including Stephen Sondheim, John Corigliano, Ned Rorem and others.

Guest artists on the album include legendary opera star Thomas Hampson, who sang at the Mondavi Center in a 2008 solo concert; award-winning roots singer Rhiannon Giddens, recently named a MacArthur "genius grant" fellow; Pentatonix beatboxing star Kevin "K.O." Olusola; and Mexican/American clarinet prodigy Javier Morales-Martinez, whom Downes discovered through the Young Artists Competition at the Mondavi Center.
