Norman Krieger discusses new Brahms recording with 95.5 KHFM: Albuquerque

Interview with KHFM's Brent Stevens

Norman Krieger is one of the most acclaimed pianists of his generation, highly regarded as an artist of depth, sensitivity and virtuosic flair. His new recording of Brahms' Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat Major, Op. 83 and Piano Sonata No. 1 in C Major, Op. 1, featuring the London Symphony led by Philip Ryan Mann on Decca Records, received a 5-star review on Amazon praising Mr. Krieger as "masterful" saying his "playing and interpretation has tremendous authority."

While recording the disc at Abbey Road Studios in London with Grammy- winning producer Michael Fine, Norman Krieger compared the concerto, which is one of the most technically demanding in the repertoire, to "climbing Mt. Everest."  Krieger continued, "What's so unique about this concerto is the symphonic nature, and that we all have to breathe together and we all have to feel the quality of dancing, of singing, of choir. At the same time it all has to fly off the page. The spiritual quality is the most rewarding feeling. After a performance, I feel that I've taken a significant journey in my life."

NK sat down with 95.5 KHFM: Albuquerque NM to discuss the new album. Listen to the attached interview.
