As recipient of a 2007 Kennedy Center Honor (one of only four classical pianists so honored), Leon Fleisher was heralded as "a moving testament to the life-affirming power of art." A child prodigy who rose early to the ranks of esteemed performer and recording artist, Fleisher's most astonishing achievements occurred in the aftermath of a debilitating neurological affliction at age 36 that immobilized his right hand for 40 years. Undaunted, he focused on performing and commissioning repertoire for the left hand, as well as conducting and teaching. Don't miss the artistry of a pianist who "pierces the heart of things with the lyrical insights of a poet." (The Wall Street Journal). Mr. Fleisher will perform at The Grand 1894 Opera House in Galveston TX on Sunday February 2.
