The Miro's Joshua Gindele and John Largess discuss Beethoven 131 with Radio Purdue

We'll hear 3 Bs: Brahms, Beethoven, and Bartok, for Four Voices: new releases from the Miro and Ariel String Quartets on today's What's New. Beethoven's Opus 131, a deeply dramatic and emotional work, which Beethoven himself considered to be his greatest achievement in the quartet form has the Miró teaming up with their multiple Grammy winning producer Da-Hong Seetoo, with whom they first began recording the Beethoven Cycle in 2005, to capture the beauty and depth of this profound work. The 131, one of the last quartets Beethoven wrote, and the next to last to be published, was used throughout the movie A Late Quartet with Christopher Walken, and also in the HBO Series A Band of Brothers.  LISTEN TO THE SEGMENT

What's New is a production of WBAA Classical, a listener supported broadcast service of Purdue University.
