ZOFO returns to Old First Concerts with old and new repertoire / examiner.com

Yesterday afternoon at Old First Church, the ZOFO duo of pianists Eva-Maria Zimmermann and Keisuke Nakagoshi returned to give their latest recital in the Old First Concerts series. This was their first visit since March of 2014, when they had presented the second of two programs consisting entirely of premieres. Yesterday afternoon's program offered only two relatively short premieres. However, it also included music from ZOFO's debut recital on October 30, 2009 in the Osher Salon of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the four-hand piano sonata composed by Harold Shapero in 1941, as well as two selections from their most recent recording, ZOFO Plays Terry Riley, released about a year ago in time for the celebration of that composer's 80th birthday. (The Shapero sonata was the second of the four selections on their debut album, Mind Meld: Works for One Piano, Four Hands.)
