Mercurio | Azrieli Perez | Dreyfuss honor Leonard Bernstein in Jerusalem 25 years after maestro's death

Even though they had only met that morning, renowned American conductor Steven Mercurio, international soprano Sharon Azrieli Perez and Hollywood star Richard Dreyfuss were already bonding in the Henry Crown Auditorium at The Jerusalem Theater last Thursday morning. Ahead of tonight's Monday March 23rd performance with the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra of Leonard Bernstein's Symphony No. 3, "Kaddish" in memory of Azrieli Perez's father David Azrieli, the trio were hovering over the sheet music and exchanging notes in a post-first rehearsal huddle.

Dreyfuss explained how he became involved in the project. "The maestro asked me if I would do it, and I said yes. I had just finished watching the American Masters documentary on Bernstein. I had just finished! And then I got the call."
