While most of my colleagues were gone for the weekend, I was in my room on Tower Parkway on a Saturday night. Quite by luck I came across station WMNR Fine Arts Radio, a splendid 24-hour classical music station broadcasting to patrons in Connecticut and across Long Island Sound into New York. My timing was perfect. I tuned in shortly before guest conductor Kurt Masur raised his baton to lead the 100-plus musicians of the Boston Symphony Orchestra "live" from Tanglewood, with Joshua Bell soloing on his 1713 Antonio Stradivarius violin.
