Tiempo Libre expands horizons with - Panamericano / Daily News

Tiempo Libre may have billed itself for years as the "first authentic all-Cuban timba band in the United States," but that definition is rapidly becoming obsolete. On their latest album, "Panamericano," the septet has expanded its musical scope to a pan-Latin sound. "This is our seventh album, and every record has its own history, based on where we are at the moment," says Jorge Gomez, the band's leader.

" 'Panamericano' represents the stage in which we feel completely American, about how well we feel in our new neighborhood, Miami Beach - a super-cosmopolitan place where you walk two steps and bump into someone who can be from any nationality. "That's why it's called it 'Panamericano,' and that's why we made it with all our friends."
