Dom Flemons interview with Oxford American

The Oxford American is proud to host the exclusive premiere of "My Money Never Runs Out," the final song on Dom Flemons' forthcoming third solo album Prospect Hill (out July 22 on Music Maker). The song was originally recorded by Banjo Joe, the early alias of legendary Memphis songster Gus Cannon. Readers will recognize that name from our Tennessee music issue, which included a long feature essay about Cannon's song "Can You Blame the Colored Man," written by Flemons himself. Six months later, I caught up with Dom to discuss this other Cannon tune, the making of Prospect Hill, and Nashville's signature fare: hot chicken. -Maxwell George
