Billboard Music Chart watchers might one day soon see a familiar name in the listings - the Maryland Symphony Orchestra. That's because the MSO is pairing with multiple Grammy Award-winning classical guitarist Sharon Isbin for her upcoming yet-titled album. The MSO announced the partnership Thursday. "So the Maryland Symphony Orchestras has the great fortune of having a really strong relationship with some world-class musicians, and one of those is Sharon Isbin," said Stephen Beaudoin, MSO executive director.

Isbin is a familiar face to MSO patrons as she has performed multiple times with the MSO at The Maryland Theatre. "She has played with orchestras around the world," Beaudoin said of Isbin. "She has been a big fan of our orchestra and has played with us many times." In 2015, the MSO, under the direction of Music Director Elizabeth Schulze collaborated with Isbin to perform the world premiere of "Affinity: Concerto for Guitar & Orchestra," which was written by Grammy-nominated composer Chris Brubeck. "It's a fabulous piece that kind of melds classical and jazz," Beadoin said of the piece. "It was so well received, and (Isbin) was so struck by the quality of the Maryland Symphony, and by the collaboration with Elizabeth and the musicians."
