Central Nebraska set for George Winston at the Merryman PAC / Kearney Hub

George Winston rarely listens to music on a recreational level. "I like to let my mind be clear," the musician said in an interview while on tour in Minnesota. "Before I started performing, I played the record player all the time. When I started playing, it became less and less - except for listening to people like Fats Waller." Winston will listen to a recorded piece of music if he plans to perform it. "A lot of learning a song is just to have it in your head," he said. "If you have it in your head, then you can figure out how your fingers work." Central Nebraska audiences can hear Winston perform music from his four decades of solo piano work tomorrow Friday April 19 at the Merryman Performing Arts Center.
