Warna by Joey Alexander discusses religiosity and the inner struggle for meaning through upbeat jazz instrumentals. The album itself consists of twelve tracks which work to elucidate how faith may serve as a means of preventing internal despair.

Along with these more tangible elements, Warna also attempts to unpack various elements of human nature through the presentation of particular dichotomies, such as intelligence. Although our impressive intellect is an intrinsic part of what makes us human, that very intelligence is what allows us to question our existence and purpose; a point of deep fear and confusion for many. As such, the album points out the inherent fragility of the human mental state and how our experiences can easily lead us down darker paths of existential dread. However, in the latter tracks of the album, Alexander examines his own struggles with purposelessness and subsequent salvation through faith. His faith granted him a new sense of meaning and a reason to continue living despite the pain he endured.
