Baton Rouge Symphony opens season with Sharon Isbin / New Orleans Advocate

The Baton Rouge Symphony Orchestra will open its 2016-17 Masterworks season with the concert "From Spain to the Americas" at 7 p.m. Friday in the Baton Rouge River Center Theatre for the Performing Arts. The performance will feature Grammy Award-winning guitarist Sharon Isbin, who performed in the symphony's Lamar Chamber Series last November. Isbin will perform Joaquin Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez," said symphony music director and conductor Timothy Muffitt. The program also will include works by composers Ernesto Lecuona, Alfonso Tenreiro, Carlos Chavez, Alberto Ginastera and Arturo Marquez.
