Welcome to "For the Record," Violinist.com's weekly roundup of new releases of recordings by violinists, violists, cellists and other classical musicians. We hope it helps you keep track of your favorite artists, as well as find some new ones to add to your listening! For this week - Ella: Accentuate the Positive from Regina Carter, violin.

Regina Carter's homage to Ella Fitzgerald is a collection of nine of the singer's "B-side" hits, reimagined for jazz violin. "There was a period when I would wake up every morning and put on Ella: Ella and coffee, that's what I needed to get through the day," Carter told The Chicago Tribune. It's a beautiful collection, and below is a sample: "Judy," the Connee Boswell song that won Fitzgerald first prize during Amateur Night at the Apollo Theater in Harlem in 1934.
