If you know the work – world - of The Bad Plus already you'll know this trio has taken music from electronica, rock and pop and given it a jazz-makeover, with often dazzling results. It's a no-brainer to have them twist out their version of Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring. But here they are actually – potentially – treading across safer, more obvious ground than when they played their trio renditions of Aphex Twin's Flim or Tears for Fears' Everybody Wants to Rule The World.

At least the rhythms – the energy – of Spring mean that this never lapses into that quaint/Loussier area. And we have the cut and attack of The Bad Plus to thank for that too of course. READ THE FULL Off the Tracks REVIEW.
