Radio Promotion is best when it's local, so don't fly, drive

In routing two of Quartetto di Cremona's recent US performances from Tulsa to Deerfield Mass., we convinced the guys not to fly, but drive. Why?

Flying no doubt is easier but since radio is local, (Cristiano Gualco - violin, Paolo Andreoli - violin, Simone Gramaglia - viola, Giovanni Scaglione - cello) wanted to raise their profile at US classical radio, and the best way to do that is to visit stations, towns and cities. Everyone was enthusiastic to host the Quartetto and the group's superb musicianship and charming way with programmers hit the right combination making the trip a big success.

Take a look at the Cremona In A Car

Following a weekend residency with Chamber Music Tulsa OK, QdC visited with 10 classical radio stations en route to Deerfield MA, going on air live, creating pre-recorded segments that combined interview and performance archive. Station stops included - KUAF-Fayetteville AR, KMST-Rolla MO, RAF-St. Louis, WUOL-Louisville, Indiana Public Radio, WGTE-Toledo, WDPR-Dayton, WOSU-Columbus, WCLV-Cleveland, and WQED-Pittsburgh.

The promotion was a great way to solidify QdC at US radio as well as promote the group's newly released recording of the 'Beethoven String Quartets.'  It was nice to work with stations.
