Max Richter's SXSWSleep / Austin Underground review

SLEEP is eight hours long – and is actually and genuinely intended to send the listener to sleep. "It's an eight-hour lullaby," says its composer, Max Richter. The landmark work is scored for piano, strings, electronics and vocals – but no words. "It's my personal lullaby for a frenetic world," he says. "A manifesto for a slower pace of existence." After receiving its world premiere in Berlin lasting from 12 midnight to 8am at which the audience will be given beds instead of seats and programmes, SLEEP was performed at this past SXSW 2018. Austin Underground's Executive Producer Chris Peck is back with a concert review unlike any other. Watch the attached video.
