Somi - The Lagos Music Salon / NPR: Weekend Edition Sunday interview

You could think of Somi as the quintessential artist citizen of the world. Born in Illinois to parents of Uganda and Rwanda, she traveled world as a child, daughter of a diplomat and educator who had worked with the World Health Organization. As a singer and songwriter, she's collaborated with artists around the globe, including Hugh Masakela, John Legend, Baaba Maal and Paul Simon. Last year, she was invited to perform at the United Nations by Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon. NPR's Arun Rath speaks with jazz artist and singer Somi about her latest project, The Lagos Music Salon.
