Seth MacFarlane handles the standards par excellence on 'Once In A While' / Jazz Weekly

Actor and crooner Seth MacFarlane takes the next logical step in his singing career with a bel canto collection of torch songs with strings, woodwinds and brass. The "Dream Team" Orchestra handles the standards par excellence, as does MacFarlane, giving wanderlust treatment to "Half As Lovely (Twice As Nice)" and the nostalgic "The Things We Did Last Summer." Some warm trumpet brings some hip atmosphere to a glowing "I Remember You" and nostalgia fills the air on the 40s-ish "I'll Be Around." Flowing flutes on "They Say It's Wonderful" and woody clarinets on "You Are Too Beautiful" make a rich backdrop, but it wouldn't work unless MacFarlane didn't have a strong enough voice to convince, and he does. He sounds convincing, assured and personal. Gotta check him out next time he's at Vibrato!
