John Williams honored by LA Phil / The Boston Herald: The Edge

The Los Angeles Philharmonic, under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel, honored John Williams Tuesday, Sep. 30, 2014, at Walt Disney Concert Hall in a performance that featured the 1984 Olympic theme and selections from Schindler's List, Fiddler on the Roof, Catch Me if You Can, The Adventures of Tintin, Amistad, Jaws, and Star Wars. Williams conducted "The Imperial March" as an encore and was joined on stage by Storm Troopers and Darth Vader. The performance also included the Los Angeles Children's Chorus and Angeles ChoraleThe concert raised $3.5 million for the L.A. Philharmonic's educational and community outreach programs.

Conducting the L.A. Phil at the Hollywood Bowl each summer, Williams has developed a strong relationship with the ensemble. He has worked closely with Dudamel and has a personal connection with almost every member of the orchestra.
