Ahead of Birmingham date, AL.com gets 15 minutes on the phone with Jeff Goldblum

Actor Jeff Goldblum, who moonlights as a jazz musician, will perform with his Mildred Snitzer Orchestra on June 2, 2019, at Birmingham's Alys Stephens Center. They're the featured act for the center's Starlight Gala. What would you do, if you had 15 minutes on the phone with Jeff Goldblum? AL.com found out recently, during an interview with the famous actor that lasted, oh, about 900 seconds or so.

Goldblum, 66, proved to be a congenial -- and at times, rather playful -- conversationalist, treating the Average Joe interviewer like a friend who'd just buzzed in for a chat. He sang snippets of some classic tunes, including "Stars Fell on Alabama," and made small talk with easy grace. He asked questions such as, "How are you?" and "How is Birmingham?" and seemed to actually care about the answers.
