Considered one of the world's pre-eminent classical guitarists, Sharon Isbin has performed at the White House, the Grammys, in the Amazon and at Ground Zero on the first-year anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. She's the only classical guitarist to have recorded with the New York Philharmonic. And she founded the guitar department in 1989 at the famed Juilliard School in New York.

Now she will return for the second time to Ellnora: The Guitar Festival at Krannert Center for the Performing Arts in early September. She will be the festival's artist-in-residence, making at least three appearances, one of them the keynote address for the event.

Despite her busy schedule, she will remain here over several days during Ellnora, a four-day biennial event that showcases some of the world's best and most influential guitar players. "It's a wonderful experience, and it's a great opportunity to bring to the community an extraordinary number of guitarists from all walks of life," she said. "It's an extraordinary festival that's beautifully run and presented."
