Anne Akiko Meyers marks her 35th studio album with Fantasia. The Violinist's rare combination of virtuosity and poetic color come to the fore in the iconic works by Ravel, Rautavaara and Szymanowski. The title track was written by legendary Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara, and this premiere posthumous recording was his last major work for violin and orchestra. Ms. Meyers traveled to Finland, and the pair worked on the piece shortly before the composer's passing. Karol Szymanowski's sensuous Violin Concerto No. 1, dedicated to Polish virtuoso violinist, Paul Kochanski, is a dazzling display of exotic melodies, and Ravel's Tzigane is a virtuoso showpiece that conjures Hungarian gypsy music, and premiered almost a century ago.

Meyers sat down with WGUC: Cincinnati Classical Music Host - Brian O'Donnell to discuss the recording. Listen to the attached interview.
