Sometimes it seems that Martha Argerich​ is less a pianist than an elemental force. Tempestuous, emotionally fragile and astoundingly good, the Argentine with the Mona Lisa smile is not only one of the greatest musicians of the past 50 years but one of the most interesting.

Notorious for cancelling concerts, and even entire tours, at very short notice, Argerich has barely played a solo recital since the early 1980s, saying it is too lonely by herself on stage and makes her psychologically ill at ease.  But her solo legacy from before that and her concerto and chamber recordings from throughout her 65-year career leave a musical treasure trove of almost unparalleled richness.  READ THE Sydney Morning Herald ARTICLE
