Tiempo Libre set to play Jefferson Center / Roanoke Times

Growing up, the members of Tiempo Libre studied classical music in Cuban conservatories by day. By night, they played traditional Cuban music in their neighborhoods.

The band members went on to leave their home country for other nations in South America and Europe. Eventually, each made his way to Miami, which is "like a second Havana," said the band's musical director and pianist, Jorge Gomez.
