Beginning her career in Austin, Texas, Kat Edmonson developed her "antique pop" sound playing in coffeehouses, hotels, and wine bars. Moving to New York a few years ago, Edmonson discovered listeners with a strong affinity for her unique style. "Some of my development in making this album has been in accepting who I am and finally believing there's an audience for me," she says.

Edmonson's film-inspired Sony Masterworks release The Big Picture reflects her childhood. As a kid, she enjoyed doing pretend photo shoots, writing songs, and putting on plays in her parents' living room. Now 31, she considers the music video for her new song Rainy Day Woman a "glorified version of that."
