In an era of music dominated by viral YouTube sensations and a revolving door of here-today-gone-tomorrow pop starlets, jazz feels ever more niche. But even if the days of multi-platinum albums like Miles Davis' Kind of Blue are long gone, new generations continue to keep the faith.

One of the current scene's most notable performers is Nir Felder. An award-winning music student – he won the Jimi Hendrix Award from Berklee College of Music's guitar department – he has honed his craft in New York and served an apprenticeship as sideman on more than a dozen albums. Off the back of his debut album as leader – 2014's Golden Age – he arrives in Hong Kong for the first time.
