Hot Sardines return to the Wharton Center / Lansing State Journal

The Hot Sardines were last in East Lansing two years ago at the 500-plus-seat Wharton Center Pasant Theater. The show was a sell-out, and the auditorium was filled with enthusiastic fans. This time the popular retro-jazz group will appear on March 30th in the 2500-seat Great Hall, and Wharton is expecting another sell-out. When I asked the group's co-founder, Evan Palazzo, to describe the music, he said, "I would call it early jazz, like New Orleans swing. I love Louis Armstrong, and it follows his style, too. "The band loves this music, and we want it be joyful for the audience – unadulterated joy," he said.
