Stringband, jugband, fiddle-and-banjo and player and Carolina Chocolate Drops member Dom Flemons returns to Virginia's Floyd Country Store tomorrow, Thurs. March 30. As multi-instrumentalist and singer Flemons navigated the folk music scene in a post-Chocolate Drops world, his curiosity and creativity led him back to his native West. Flemons, born and bred in Phoenix, Arizona, is putting the finishing touches on an album of black cowboy songs. The recording is done. He has finished the liner notes and looks to an early 2018 release date.Expect to hear at least five numbers from that collection on Thursday. They will be part of a set list including music from his previous records "Prospect Hill" and "What Got Over," he said. Upright bassist and fiddler Brian Farrow will round out the act. "When we're playing live, we cover the whole spectrum," Flemons said in a phone call last week. "It's been one of the greatest things, to be able to have a repertoire so that I have a little bit of something for everybody."
