Silk Road Ensemble's Eric Jacobsen named new Greater Bridgeport Symphony music director

Since its founding in the 1940s, the Greater Bridgeport Symphony has enjoyed a reputation for hiring nationally and internationally renowned conductors/music directors to lead the ensemble. The venerable orchestra remained true to its history, announcing that its fifth music director and principal conductor Eric Jacobsen, of Brooklyn, N.Y. Described by the Los Angeles Times as someone "on a mission to help ensure the future of classical music in America," Mr. Jacobsenis also a founding member of Brooklyn Rider as well as a member one of the most esteemed groups in America: cellist Yo-Yo Ma's Silk Road Ensemble.Silk Road Ensemble.
