Perlman fiddles while Mets burn / Amazin' Avenue

The Mets' bullpen blew another lead, and the Mets lost 6-5 in extra innings to the Yankees last night after taking a lead into the late innings. After a mediocre start by Logan Verrett that saw the Yankees score three runs in five innings to take an early lead, the newly-called-up Matt Reynolds crushed a three-run home run to give the Mets a lead in the sixth. It didn't last. Jerry Blevins and Addison Reed blew the lead in the eighth, and after the game went to extra innings, Seth Lugo gave up a run in relief and the Mets lost. On the only positive note, renowned violinist and Mets fan Itzhak Perlman brilliantly played the national anthem before the game.
