The Wood Brothers bring Rochester fans to their feet, filling the aisles, dancing and singing at Kodak Center show / NYSMusic
Rochester is a strong music city, based mostly on its flourishing local scene. Touring acts aren't as kind to this city between cities. But every once in a while a band comes through, latches on, and rides the tide to local hero-dom. The Wood Brothers are such a band. First opening for the poster-child of Rochester hero bands, Tedeschi Trucks Band. Then breaking through as a club pass band at the Roc...
The Wood Brothers sing of the cyclical progression of life, chuckle at people being human, and resolve to make things better / Something Else! Review
The Wood Brothers sing of the cyclical progression of life, chuckle at people being human, and resolve to make better the things they can control and not worry about the rest. These are some of the broad, introspective themes found all over their seventh studio long player Kingdom In My Mind. And it all came about organically as they were breaking in their new Nashville studio, without them realizing the...

Signs of democracy and togetherness on The Wood Brothers: One Drop of Truth / American Songwriter
Acts that feature brothers in singer-songwriter rolls range from the generally harmonious (the Avetts, the Allmans pre-Duane's passing) to the radically dysfunctional (the Kinks' Davies brothers and Oasis' Gallagher siblings) and somewhere in-between (Jesus and Mary Chain's Reid's on again/off again relationship). The Wood Brothers seem to fall into the first category as they release album number six wit...

The Wood Brothers release their suggestively titled new LP / Boulder Weekly
The Wood Brothers' new LP, suggestively titled One Drop of Truth¸ starts its program with a simple acoustic guitar bounce, a bluesy, sundance-in-the-field filigree draped in the Brothers' characteristically pristine lo-fi varnish, which suddenly turns a little dark. The levee in Shreveport does what it's supposed to, sings Oliver Wood, until it doesn't. "Nothin's ever for certain," the chorus ...

The Best of Bonnaroo - Friday: The Wood Brothers / American Songwriter review
The Wood Brothers have accumulated new fans and facial hair since their last time at Bonnaroo. Since their 2006 album Ways Not to Lose, the real-life band of brothers, Oliver and Chris Wood, have been enjoying moderate success touring on the strength of their songs and last name (Chris is the Wood in Medeski Martin & Wood). A few years ago country star Zac Brown signed the brothers to his Southern Gr...
