SHOWBOAT

Trumpeter and singer Brian Newman's first album for Verve, SHOWBOAT, is out today and features a brand new track with his long-time friend and colleague 

LADY GAGA on "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood," a song that was first recorded by Nina Simone in 1964, and subsequently covered by The Animals. Joe Cocker and Elvis Costello among a host of other artists through the decades.  Brian explains, "Please Don't let Me Be Misunderstood was on a short list of songs we wanted to record with LG. Our choices of how to arrange this song and every song always stays true to our original sound as a band. While steeped in the tradition of the Great American Songbook and at the same time we are pushing the boundaries of the music we know and love. LG makes that very easy for us because of her great range and vast knowledge of the music. We didn't want to do what was already done and make it our own. This definitely shines on this track and I'm excited for everyone to hear it!"

"Trumpeter, singer, and Lady Gaga band leader Brian Newman releases - I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm, his second single since signing with Verve Records. His forthcoming debut solo album will showcase the diversity and originality of his musical signature, recently inspiring the New York Times to note his "swinging music…and noteworthy style." The release will incorporate creative takes on rock classics as well as jazz standards. In addition to the Bennett/Gaga tour, he has collaborated with Jose Feliciano and Dierks Bentley."

Brian Newman, singer, trumpeter and Verve recording artist is gearing up for the release of his first solo recording due out this fall with the launch of a four-city "after hours" club tour that kicks off in Chicago on August 25th.  Newman is a long-time friend of Lady Gaga and has frequently accompanied her in performance, most notably on the Tony Bennett/Lady Gaga "Cheek to Cheek" Tour in 2015.  He will perform late night engagements throughout August and September in NY, LA, Chicago, Boston and Philadelphia. There is also a digital single - Sunday In New York.
