The Tchaikovsky Project - Complete

DECCA CLASSICS TO RELEASE - THE TCHAIKOVSKY PROJECT
FIRST MAJOR UNDERTAKING FOR THE CZECH PHILHARMONIC & SEMYON BYCHKOV

"Semyon Bychkov and the world-class Czech Philharmonic give Tchaikovsky space and depth, and a richness of sound and ambience, without missing any of the excitement at moments of high drama." –  Financial Times

Decca Classics releases a seven-volume edition from the Czech Philharmonic and newly-appointed Chief Conductor and Music Director Semyon Bychkov, The Tchaikovsky Project. Since the project's inception in 2013, the orchestra and conductor have been delving into exhaustive exploration of Tchaikovsky's music. The first two recordings in the project, released on Decca in 2016 and 2017, have received wide critical acclaim and the year 2019 sees a series of Tchaikovsky residences in Tokyo, Vienna and Paris as well as at home in Prague. The new boxset features all of the composer's symphonies, the three piano concertos with Kirill Gerstein, Romeo & Juliet, Serenade for Strings and Francesca da Rimini.

The Tchaikovsky Project Vol 2 - Manfred Symphony

Following Tchaikovsky Project Vol.1, an album deemed "so impressive as to render the distinction between technique and imagination irrelevant" (The New Yorker), Decca releases Tchaikovsky Project Vol.2, with Semyon Bychkov conducting the Czech Philharmonic in the epic Manfred Symphony. Continuing Bychkov's multi-year project to shed light on the Russian master's major orchestral works, this latest installment coincides with the maestro's performance of Manfred Symphony at the BBC Proms on 8/31.

The Tchaikovsky Project

Russian conductor Semyon Bychkov and the Czech Philharmonic launch "The Tchaikovsky Project," a recording cycle on Decca Classics that will encompass Tchaikovsky's complete symphonies and piano concertos, as well as other selected orchestral works. The first recording in the cycle, to be released on October 14, features the composer's Sixth Symphony ("Pathetique") and Romeo & Juliet Fantasy Overture. The recording cycle is part of Mr. Bychkov's international, multi-season Tchaikovsky project, Beloved Friend, which also includes concert series in New York and London in 2016?17 and residencies in Paris and Vienna planned for future seasons. Through this recording cycle and project, Mr. Bychkov reconnects with the classic Russian repertoire of his formative years, remarking that "I've loved Tchaikovsky's music ever since I can remember. Like all first loves, this one never died."
