Robert Stallman:

New Schubert Works for Flute & Strings

After the stunning launch of the Bogner's Cafe label with Mozart-Stallman: New Quintets for Flute & Strings, Robert Stallman is again happily joined in Prague by the award-winning Martinu String Quartet and Karel Untermuller as he presents more of his stellar new arrangements. New Schubert Works for Flute & Strings continues Stallman's love affair with the very direct and intimate medium of chamber music. Long admired internationally as a flutist of singular gifts, Stallman now shows us another dimension of his artistry-one driven by his desire to deepen as a musician-flutist and to add substance to the flute repertoire.

Cosi fan Flauti: Mozart for Flute & Orchestra

On January 27th, Bogner's Café will release Così fan Flauti: Mozart for Flute & Orchestra (BOCA-106). The all-Mozart disc opens with the popular Concerto in C Major, K. 299 for Flute & Harp. The Czech Republic's leading harpist, Kateřina Englichová, joins America's virtuoso flutist Robert Stallman for the double concerto, in a rousing and heart-warming dialogue, enhanced by Stallman's own stylish cadenzas. A more eloquent performance of the Concerto's poignant Andante would be hard to imagine.

Bach Sonatas for Flute & Obbligato Harpsichord

Bogner's Cafe delights in our new release with Robert Stallman-Bach Sonatas for Flute & Obbligato Harpsichord:

Evenings at Zimmermann's Coffeehouse
The virtuoso flutist known to create "special occasions in every sense of the word" (Boston Globe) has done it again-this time taking us into a coffeehouse with J.S. Bach. With an artistry that radiates high spirits, sensuality, stylistic polish and refinement of feeling, Robert Stallman proves a stunning match for the panache and depth that characterize J.S. Bach in these sonatas. With his distinctive "tonal bloom and subtlety" (Gramophone), Stallman brings this time-honored repertoire into the 21st century.

Robert Stallman:

The Nightingale in Love

The Bogner's Cafe label presents Robert Stallman in "The Nightingale in Love", a collection of Flute Music of the Late French Baroque. With works by Boismortier, Couperin, de La Barre, Marais and Philidor, Stallman reveals the cultural crosscurrents that gave the flute a central role in the development of French chamber music in the early years of the 18th century. As the flutist who, according to the London Times, "dazzles because of his penetrating artistry", Stallman has recently won kudos here and abroad for performances of his compelling quartet and quintet transcriptions of Mozart and Schubert, recorded for Bogner's Cafe. The Calgary Herald noted that, solely on the basis of his masterful Baroque recordings, Stallman "deserves to be a household name". No flutist better captures the sensuous lyricism, incisive rhythms and highly expressive ornamentation of the French Baroque. And with his characteristic beauty of sound and communicative warmth, supported by his longtime partnership with the superb continuo team of Edwin Swanborn (harpsichord) and Karl Bennion (cello), Robert Stallman once again offers a most appealing invitation to listening pleasure.
