Outlander The Series-Highlights from Season 7 OTS

Sony Music Masterworks releases OUTLANDER: SEASON 7 (HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE ORIGINAL TELEVISION SOUNDTRACK) with music by Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning series composer BEAR McCREARY. Available everywhere now, the EP also features McCreary’s arrangement of the series theme song “The Skye Boat Song” performed by the late Sinéad O’Connor, and a Scottish traditional song performed by Griogair Labhruidh. The EP serves as an introduction to the larger soundscape envisioned by McCreary for the seventh season of the critically acclaimed STARZ series from Sony Pictures Television, the first half of which is available now on the STARZ app, all STARZ streaming and on-demand platforms.

Of the release, composer BEAR McCREARY says, “Scoring Outlander’s seventh season allowed me to continue to weave the threads that create the tapestry of this dynamic, eclectic score. The sounds of Americana were brought to the fore as Claire and Jamie at last collide with the events of the American Revolution. Most importantly, Season 7 also allowed me to return to the series’ roots in Celtic folk music. I was thrilled by the opportunity to enlist the legendary singer Sinéad O’Connor, who I thought could provide a unique sense of power and wisdom to our latest rendition of the series’ iconic title theme, ‘The Skye Boat Song.’ It was my privilege to collaborate with her on what I understand was her final recording, a hauntingly beautiful vocal performance. Sinéad was the warrior poet I expected her to be. I am gutted by her loss.”

GOD OF WAR RAGNAROK (PLAYSTATION SOUNDTRACK)

Sony Music Masterworks today releases GOD OF WAR RAGNARÖK (ORIGINAL SOUNDTRACK) by composer BEAR McCREARY. Available everywhere now, the album features score music written by McCreary for the hugely-anticipated video game, which debuts today on PlayStation®5 and PlayStation®4 consoles. Also included within the 28-track collection is an original vocal track from McCreary and multiplatinum-selling singer-songwriter HOZIER entitled “Blood Upon the Snow” – listen here. Fans can get an inside look at the recording of the track in an exclusive behind-the-scenes video featuring interviews with Hozier and McCreary HERE. Having previously scored 2018’s God of War, McCreary returns to the legendary gaming franchise for its newest iteration, once again imbuing the score with traditional Northern European instrumentation, folk elements and an Icelandic choir to capture the game’s Nordic influences. McCreary also reunites with Faroese singer Eivør, who contributes her captivating vocal stylings throughout the score.

Speaking of his collaboration with Hozier, composer BEAR McCREARY says, “Among the most exciting surprises of my experience on God of War Ragnarök was the opportunity to co-write and co-produce ‘Blood Upon the Snow’ with the prolific Irish singer-songwriter, Hozier. I have always admired his captivating lyrical sensibilities and rich, velvety tenor vocal tone. I had a blast hanging out with him in the studio and crafting a song together that supports the emotional arc between father and son. I believe our song is the perfect finale for this epic narrative journey.”

Outlander - Season 6, Original Television Event

Sony Music Masterworks today releases OUTLANDER: SEASON 6 (ORIGINAL TELEVISION SOUNDTRACK) with music by Emmy® and BAFTA Award-winning composer BEAR McCREARY. Available everywhere now, the album features score music written by McCreary for the critically acclaimed STARZ series. Also included within the 18-track collection is a new version of the main title theme “The Skye Boat Song,” which was re-recorded as a vocal duet for this season. Joining singer Raya Yarbrough is Scottish poet and singer Griogair Labhruidh, who contributes his voice to the original song alongside Yarbrough in addition to featuring on two Gaelic versions of the track. The sixth season of Outlander debuts Sunday, March 6 on STARZ.

Of the soundtrack, composer BEAR McCREARY says, “Each new season of Outlander brings new adventures, beginning with a musical reimagining of our now iconic use of ‘The Skye Boat Song’ as a main title theme. For five seasons, our main titles have featured the warm vocal tones of singer Raya Yarbrough, representing Claire’s journey. For this sixth season, we created the show’s first vocal duet, joining her with Scottish poet and singer Griogair Labhruidh, to represent Jamie’s musical perspective. This move was inspired by the dramatic arc of the sixth season itself, where Jamie and Claire’s relationship is put to the test, and they must strengthen their bond more than ever to overcome new obstacles. I’m excited for audiences to hear the new musical adventure on this unforgettable new season of Outlander.”

Outlander

Sony Music today releases OUTLANDER: SEASON 5 (ORIGINAL TELEVISION SOUNDTRACK) with music by EMMY® and BAFTA award-winning composer BEAR MCCREARY.  Available everywhere now, the album features music written by McCreary for the fifth season of the critically acclaimed Starz series.

Of the soundtrack, composer BEAR MCCREARY says, "From the bagpipes of Scotland, the baroque harpsichords of Paris, the blistering Afro-Cuban percussion of Jamaica, to the twangy banjos of the Appalachian Mountains, my score for Outlander has continuously evolved to keep up with Claire and Jamie as they traverse both time and space. For the series' fifth season, I was presented with a new kind of challenge. For the first time, the geography and century would remain consistent with the previous season.  As a result, there was no longer a need to introduce new instruments and styles. Inspired by the drama, it was time to dig deeper into the music that had already been established."
