Unlike many professional musicians, Mark O'Connor did not grow up in a musical family. He was the odd man out, so to speak, in a family of dancers. Perhaps that's why the violin virtuoso has been having the time of his life for the last two years, performing and recording with the O'Connor Band, a Grammy-winning bluegrass and Americana unit that includes O'Connor's wife, son and daughter-in-law. "It's been rewarding. It's easily the most enjoyable time I've ever spent on stage, by far. It's pure joyfulness," O'Connor said

The O'Connor Band will perform on Saturday, Aug. 5 -- O'Connor's 56th birthday -- at The Newton Theatre. The band will play songs from its 2016 studio album, "Coming Home," which won the 2017 Grammy for Best Bluegrass Album, and simulate some of its just-released (June 7) "O'Connor Band Live!" album, a stunning recording of a late 2016 show at the Sellersville Theater in Pennsylvania.
