The Del Sol String Quartet is a Bay Area treasure and to celebrate its 25th anniversary, they've put together the Whole Sol Festival, which is sure to be a knockout set of shows. For the festival, Del Sol's members - Benjamin Kreith (violin), Rick Shinozaki (violin), Charlton Lee (viola), and Kathryn Bates (cello) - are playing the work of two generations of California composers. One piece comes from Terry Riley, who could be said to be the inventor of minimalism with his 1964 piece "In C." The other piece comes from Riley's son Gyan Riley, and is a work for string quartet and audience ukulele choir, so bring your ukulele if you have one, and arrive early to rehearse.
