Cliff Eidelman composed The Tempest in 3 movements, The Storm, The Island and Love and the total time is 18 minutes. The composer explains, “though I composed this work and first recorded it with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra in 1997, with so much time gone by and so much more experience and reflection on the piece, I yearned to re-record it again with the same orchestra. Interpreting the piece with a fresh new look, I found myself allowing each section to breathe more deeply and evolve in a more expansive way. In this recent recording session, I loved hearing a few of the musicians identify their own pencil markings in their parts from all those years ago.” The piece is  orchestrated for a large orchestra.

Composer Cliff Eidelman’s breakthrough came with his score for Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and by the age of 24, Eidelman had composed a number of epic scores including the holocaust drama Triumph of the Spirit. His film score credits include The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, He’s Just Not That Into You, One True Thing among many others. The composer has also had a concurrent path in the fields of concert music, ballet, choral music, and songs including Symphony for Orchestra and Two Pianos recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra, The Tempest, recorded by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Night in the Gallery recorded by Members of the London Symphony Orchestra, all conducted by the composer. Wedding in the Night Garden, originally composed for strings and mezzo-soprano has a second version with the addition of choir and was performed by the Los Angeles Master Chorale.
