Bruch & Mendelssohn Concertos | Beethoven Romances

Four-time Grammy nominee violinist Philippe Quint celebrates two milestones – the release of his recording of concertos by Mendelssohn and Bruch, and Beethoven's Romances Nos. 1 and 2, with the Orquesta Sinfonica de Minería led by Carlos Miguel Prieto on the Avanticlassic label, as well as the theatrical opening by International Film Circuit of Downtown Express, a new film Quint stars in from multiple Peabody and Emmy Award-winning director David Grubin, produced by Michael Hausman (Brokeback Mountain, Gangs of New York, Amadeus), and co-starring singer-songwriter Nellie McKay.

Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto | Arensky Quartet

Avanticlassic will release award-winning American violinist Philippe Quint's recording of Tchaikovsky's popular Violin Concerto in D major, Op. 35, uniquely paired with Anton Stepanovich Arensky's String Quartet No. 2 in A minor, Op. 35, which is dedicated to the memory of Tchaikovsky, in September 2014. Quint recorded the Tchaikovsky concerto with the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra led by conductor Martin Panteleev at Bulgaria Hall. For the very first time, the last movement of the Concerto is presented twice on CD – once in Tchaikovsky's original scoring and as a bonus track, the controversially condensed version of the third movement by Leopold Auer. The Arensky quartet for violin, viola, and two cellos was recorded by Quint at Siemensvilla in Berlin with cellists Claudio Bohórquez and Nicolas Altstaedt, and violist Lily Francis.
