Rachmaninov: Etudes-Tab. & Vari. on Theme Corelli

The young Russian born pianist Alexander Romanovsky released his second recording on the Decca label, featuring Sergei Rachmaninoff's Etudes-Tableaux Opus. 39 and Variations on a Theme of Corelli Opus. 42. Dubbed by critics as the next heir to the Great Russian Tradition of pianists, 24 year-old Alexander Romanovsky, who at the age of eleven was touring as soloist with Vladimir Spivakov and the Moscow Virtuosi, first attracted international attention at the age of fifteen when he was awarded an "Honoris Causa Doctorate" from the Royal Philharmonic Academy of Bologna. An honour that, at such an early age, was bestowed upon only two other musicians: Mozart and Rossini.
