Classical Soul Vol. 1

Renowned classical-soul pianist & composer Alexis Ffrench is thrilled to announce the release of his latest album, Classical Soul Vol. 1, arriving today via Sony Classical. This much-anticipated project marks Ffrench's first brand new studio recording in two years and promises to be a nostalgic journey through the timeless sounds that have shaped his unique musical DNA.

Drawing inspiration from his late father’s cherished record collection, Classical Soul Vol. 1 masterfully blends Ffrench’s signature classical sound with his early influences from soul icons, such as Roberta Flack and her unforgettable 'Killing Me Softly,' which won the Grammy for Record of the Year 50 years ago.

The album includes the recent single "Soar", an uplifting multi- cultural anthem featuring Congolese singer-songwriter Fally Ipupa and Pentaonix' cellist and beatboxer Kevin Olusola, celebrating people coming together at the 2024 Olympics in Paris.

Recorded at the legendary Miraval Studios in France, owned by Brad Pitt and Damien Quintard and known for hosting some of the most incredible names in music; the studio served as the perfect environment to create Alexis’ deeply personal, nostlagic and reflective album.

Classical Soul Vol. 1 is a continuation of the poignant and avant- garde music that has defined Alexis Ffrench’s career, solidifying his status as one of the UK’s most distinctive and groundbreaking artists. As the pioneer of the 'Classical Soul' genre, Ffrench has captured the hearts of millions worldwide, with over one billion streams across his catalogue. His previous chart-topping albums, Dreamland and Evolution, have established him as the fastest-growing classical artist worldwide, resonating with a diverse audience that spans generations.

Alexis Ffrench:

Peace

This poignant & emotional body of work features five tracks, including original compositions Peace, St Andrews and When The Bells Ring, inspired by the untouched beauty of nature, and gorgeously arranged versions of Bach’s Sheep May Safely Graze and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.

Alexis’ deep reverence for nature shines through in every note of his solo piano EP, drawing inspiration from his personal experiences exploring the stunning landscapes of the Scottish Highlands with his youngest son Jobim. Alexis effortlessly weaves together his interpretation of the soothing sounds of nature with his signature classical-soul style.

The EP is not only a celebration of the awe-inspiring beauty of the natural world, but also a call to action to protect our planet for future generations.

Truth

ALEXIS FFRENCH ANNOUNCES NEW ALBUM - TRUTH
AVAILABLE MAY 6, 2022 - PREORDER NOW
FEATURING A COLLABORATION WITH POP POWERHOUSE LEONA LEWIS

Acclaimed pianist, composer, and producer Alexis Ffrench has announced his new album Truth out May 6th on Sony Music Masterworks and available now for preorder. Born from the grief, anger, and helplessness he felt following the death of George Floyd – Alexis tried to make sense of it the only way he knew how – he sat at his piano composing. Accompanying the album announcement and preorder is the first track “Guiding Light,” which is about a higher power and is also a dedication to loved ones no longer with us.

Of the new track, Alexis comments, “My mental health was suffering last year because I felt I wasn’t enough - and because I didn't tell my father I loved him until the evening before he died. I went to the piano and that sense of helplessness and breathlessness turned into a piece that represented the broad spectrum of emotions I was experiencing.”
Alexis Ffrench isn’t afraid of fusing his music with weighty issues. For years, the pioneering pianist has used his music to highlight mental health, discuss diversity and challenge the classical world to be more inclusive. Truth, his latest album, is his most powerful and political to date, and his most optimistic.

“I’m usually wary of making any sort of political statement,” says Britain’s best-selling classical composer, whose songs have been streamed half a billion times, “but sometimes you have to put your head above the parapet. Truth was borne out of an intensely personal moment. These songs are my reaction to that.”

Alexis Ffrench:

Dreamland

"If a single person epitomises the new push towards making classical music more diverse, eclectic and unstuffy, it's Alexis Ffrench."The Times

UK contemporary pianist and composer Alexis Ffrench releases; ‘Dreamland', via Sony Music. Alexis' wish for ‘Dreamland' is for it to be a source of comfort in troubled times for the listener; an album to comfort, rebalance and inspire change.

Alexis, said: "In writing the album, Dreamland, I wanted to shine a light in times of darkness as an antidote to our troubled times; to give listeners an opportunity to stop, listen and breathe, if only for one three minute track. I hope listeners use Dreamland as a form of escapism, to transport them to a safe and calm oasis in which they can create time for self-care, often an afterthought in our busy, stressful working lives."
