The Wheel of Time Season 2, Vol. 2 (PVOSS)

Milan Records releases THE WHEEL OF TIME: SEASON 2, VOLUME 2 (PRIME VIDEO ORIGINAL SERIES SOUNDTRACK) by award-winning composer Lorne Balfe. Available everywhere now, the Volume 2 album features original score and vocal music written by Balfe for the second season of the fantasy series. Following the release of the Volume 1 soundtrack, which served as a conceptual album of key character themes, Volume 2 features 16 cues from the series handpicked by Balfe as a retrospective of his favorite musical and episodic moments across the new season.

From the album’s pounding opener “Damane” to its sprawling epic finale “The Source of Power,” the soundtrack features an otherworldly choir of voices throughout its 16 tracks featuring vocals by Peter Cox, Abby Lyons, JJ Hodari,  Niall Cash, Derek Hughes, Aisha Chaouche, Michael Bitton, Joe Acres, Annie Grunwald, Jon Ong and Nikhil Koparkar. The recordings of both albums were a global effort with recording sessions taking place at Abbey Road in London, Abriguerio Recording Studios in Spain, as well as various project studios in London, Los Angeles, Nashville and Chicago.

Balfe returns to The Wheel of Time universe after composing three albums for the series’ first season, which also included a similar conceptual album of key themes. The official season one playlist is available for fans to stream while they await the release of the season two soundtracks.

The Wheel of Time - Season 2 Vol. 1 ( PVOSS )

Milan Records releases THE WHEEL OF TIME: SEASON 2, VOLUME 1 (PRIME VIDEO ORIGINAL SERIES SOUNDTRACK) by award-winning composer Lorne Balfe. Available everywhere now, the Volume 1 album is the first of an eventual two volumes of original music, which Balfe wrote for the second season of the fantasy series. It serves as a conceptual album of 11 key themed tracks, each tailored to a different character in the new season. Today’s Volume 1 album release will be followed by an additional Volume 2 soundtrack, set to debut on Friday, September 22.

The recordings of both albums were a global effort with recording sessions taking place at Abbey Road in London, Abriguerio Recording Studios in Spain, as well as various project studios in London, Los Angeles, Nashville and Chicago.

Balfe returns to The Wheel of Time universe after composing three albums for the series’ first season, which also included a similar conceptual album of key themes. 

“This season, we really tried from the beginning to accentuate the high stakes, action and dark threats in each episode, expanding upon the themes from season one while introducing new ones as the world continues to expand,“ Balfe said. “Like in season one, vocalists recorded singing in “Old Tongue”, which follows the narrative as it develops throughout season two. We kept the same musical palette, but moved away from the traditional fantasy tropes and incorporated more elements of electronic, dreampop, folk, classical and even dark wave into each track. This was a great way to show the musical evolution of the characters and how they have come into their own.“

The first four episodes of The Wheel of Time are available now on Prime Video, with new episodes debuting every Friday in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.

MISSION IMPOSSIBLE DEAD RECKONING PART1 OMPS

Sony Music Masterworks today releases MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – DEAD RECKONING PART ONE (MUSIC FROM THE MOTION PICTURE) by composer LORNE BALFE. Available everywhere now, the album features music written by Balfe for the film, which is out now exclusively in theaters from Paramount Pictures and Skydance.

Of the score, LORNE BALFE comments: "It’s always exciting and thrilling to score a film which such a legacy as Mission Impossible. I first began writing for this project over 3 years ago and the goal was to create an adrenaline-fueled, emotional and exhilarating score to match the pulse pounding intensity of the film. For this score, we were able to record in cities which form the locations of the filming, bringing a different level of authenticity and emotional connection to the music. We recorded Choirs in Venice, The Swiss Drums Corps in Switzerland, Orchestra’s in Venice, Vienna and London along with an epic bongo session made up of 35 players, it sounded incredible in the room and a nice ode to Fallout. This is by far my most expansive score to date with 555 musicians playing across 5 cities. It was an honour to work with such world-class talents and an excellent team that helped cultivate a finished score that is truly special.”

Milan Records today releases THE WHEEL OF TIME: SEASON 1, VOL. 2 (AMAZON ORIGINAL SERIES SOUNDTRACK), an album of music composed by LORNE BALFE for the hit world-building fantasy series. Available everywhere now, the album features original vocal and score music written by Balfe for the latest episodes in the series, which debut each Friday on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Today’s release arrives on the heels of The First Turn themes album and the Volume 1 soundtrack release and will be followed by a third and final soundtrack from the show’s first season arriving on Friday, December 17.

The series’ vast musical universe was initially introduced with the release of The Wheel of Time: The First Turn (Amazon Original Series Soundtrack), a conceptual album of key themes written by Balfe for the characters, settings and ideas central to the show. Available everywhere now, the 14-track collection provides a foundation for the fantasy series’ rich soundscape, with many of Balfe’s final score cues developing as variations of these initial themes. In addition to the album’s digital release, The First Turn soundtrack will also be made available in spatial audio, giving listeners a completely immersive listening experience with enhanced clarity, as well as in vinyl format, set to arrive in 2022.

The soundtracks are produced by 14th Street Music, a production company owned by Hans Zimmer, Steve Kofsky and Lorne Balfe.

Available everywhere now, The Wheel of Time: The First Turn (Amazon Original Series Soundtrack) is a largely conceptual album that includes key themes written by Balfe for the characters, settings and ideas central to The Wheel of Time universe. The 14-track collection provides a foundation for the fantasy series' rich soundscape, with much of Balfe's final score cues developing as variations of these initial themes. The Wheel of Time: The First Turn album will be followed by three additional soundtrack albums to be released as separate volumes alongside the show's first season.

The Tomorrow War (Amazon OMPS)

Milan Records today releases THE TOMORROW WAR (AMAZON ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SOUNDTRACK) with music by GRAMMY Award®-winning and Emmy®- and BAFTA-nominated producer and composer LORNE BALFE.  Available everywhere now, the album features music written by Balfe for the futuristic action film directed by Chris McKay and marks the second collaboration between the composer and director, who previously worked together on McKay's directorial debut The Lego Batman Movie.  Starring Chris Pratt, J.K. Simmons and Yvonne Strahovski, The Tomorrow War premieres globally on Amazon Prime Video today.

Bad Boys for Life OMPS

Sony Music today releases BAD BOYS FOR LIFE (ORIGINAL MOTION PICTURE SCORE) with music by GRAMMY Award-winning, EMMY- and BAFTA-nominated composer LORNE BALFE (Ad Astra, His Dark Materials, Gemini Man).  Available everywhere now, the album features score music written by Balfe for the third and final installment in Sony Pictures' Bad Boys trilogy starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, in theaters everywhere now.
