Béla Fleck and the Flecktones will perform at the Smith Opera House in Geneva on Thursday August 10. Fleck is looking forward to returning to the Smith. "I have played that venue for many years and I love it," he said. "Flecktones have had many-a-mighty show in that room. I enjoy the old feel and the sound in that room. And New York state, well - that's my home state - so I love playing there." Last summer, Fleck reunited with the original Flecktones - bassist Victor Wooten, percussionist Roy "Futureman" Wooten and harmonica ace Howard Levy - for a brief tour, which included a stop in Binghamton. "That was such a wonderful run," he said in an email interview. "It was our first experiment with going out and playing some gigs without a new record - just for fun. In the past we would only tour when we were prepared to create a whole new set of music, and play it for a year."
