In advance of Celebrity Series, Anthony Roth Costanzo Q&A's with Radio Boston

Anthony Roth Costanzo has been hailed by NPR as "a Countertenor For The 21st Century" and he's made it his mission to make opera mainstream again. That's no easy task for a genre that's struggled to connect with contemporary audiences. But Costanzo believes through collaboration with musicians, artists, filmmakers, and fashionistas - opera can reach anyone.

Costanzo's debut album - ARC on Decca GOLD pairs arias of Philip Glass and Handel, as he performs works of baroque master G. F. Handel and minimalist 20/21st century composer Philip Glass, all played by the orchestra LES VIOLONS DU ROY. Conducted by JONATHAN COHEN, the orchestra has as much facility with minimalism as they do with baroque style. Anchored by Costanzo's alternatingly powerful and sweet sound, this album presents a unique juxtaposition which exemplifies his artistry.

Anthony Roth Costanzo was in Boston this week as a part of  the Celebrity Series of Boston.
